Will Catholics follow the cardinal’s lead or run as cowards?

On Feb.18, the Baltimore Sun published an article showing how Cardinal Edwin F. O’Brien had the courage to take on the President Barack Obama and Gov. Martin J. O’Malley political organizations on matters of right and wrong.

I appreciate the cardinal’s efforts. It remains to be seen whether we as fellow Catholics vote according to his leadership or run as cowards with our tails between our legs in the face of the continuing political attacks on our religion, our families and our rights as citizens.

Such attacks will not cease until the people responsible are removed from political office. This, in my view, is not a case of political party disagreements. It is a case of religious liberty and preserving our constitutional rights.
