White Mass to be held Oct. 18

Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien will celebrate the annual White Mass for the Baltimore Guild of the Catholic Medical Association Oct. 18 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore.

The 2 p.m. Mass honors St. Luke, the patron saint of physicians, who are encouraged to wear their white coats. Medical students, health care professionals, family and friends are also invited to attend.

After Mass, a luncheon reception will be held at the nearby Engineer’s Club, a short walk from the Basilica. The speaker will be auxiliary Bishop Denis J. Madden. The cost is $60 for adults and $18 for children. Registration is required by Oct. 10.
