Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Baltimore is to recruit strong, faithful, young adults to the priesthood and religious life. The Office of Vocations hopes to foster vocational awareness among Catholics to create a culture open to God’s Will. Our goal is to establish Catholic identity among the Faithful, especially in regards to various charisms, Orders, and spiritualties.

The Office enables individuals to explore different avenues of life within the One True Faith. We hope to foster a greater awareness of vocations through education, events, and spiritual direction, in hopes that they in turn will be of guidance to those discerning. We currently have fifty-five men in seminary formation. We have also led others to religious and monastic life, consecrated life, permanent diaconate, and marriage.

Discernment always happens with the help of the Church. The archdiocese needs to get to know you better before offering you a seminary application.

The application process

Applying to become a seminarian is a bit like applying to college, but with additional screening components such as background checks and medical and psychological screening.

Archbishop Lori is ultimately the decision maker when it comes to seminary applicants.
