Victorious season for St. Michael’s girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade girls’ basketball team of St. Michael the Archangel School, Overlea, finished a successful season with 11 wins and four losses, winning their division in the CYO league and advancing to the playoffs for the third straight year; they lost a close game to Our Lady of Victory School, Arbutus. Coaches Joe and Donna Bourne and Ray Lawder continued to lead the girls in the St. Ursula School, Parkville, tournament where they won all four of their games including the championship game over St. Pius X School, Rodgers Forge. Team players include Shannon Aikens, Rachel Bourne, Olivia Bowman, Gaby Capobianco, Sarah Cavagna, Carly Grudzien, Angela Kastrunes, Shelby Kestler, Maggie Lawder and Sarah Sawyers. Shannon, Rachel and Carly were named to the all-tournament team.
