The Church of the Nativity in Timonium will dedicate its newly-completed expansion and renovation following the 5:00 p.m. Mass on November 20, 2004. The project, completed in two-phases over a two-year period at a cost of $2.5 million, included the construction of a new nursery, a 1,500-foot addition to the Great Hall, updated restrooms, handicapped accessibility and the installation of a new sound system.
“This work will dramatically improve our facility, allowing us to expand all of our services and programs,” said John White, Chief Operating Officer for the church. “Our church family has been extremely supportive of everything we’ve undertaken; as the new building has taken shape our bonds of fellowship have also been strengthened.”
Seeking to enhance community areas within the church and improve parking and traffic flow, parish leaders designed an expanded café, including a terrace, where parishioners can gather after Mass, a new driveway accessible from Ridgely Road, a pavilion and a new plaza. Additional landscaping features, including a fountain, will be added in Spring 2005 to create a more reflective and serene church campus.
Private donations and a two-year capital campaign funded the construction project. More than 5,700 Catholics are registered at Nativity, which was established in 1968.
