Thank You, Lord: The perfect morning prayer to start your day

Photo: Spending Time with God First Thing Each Morning

Schools in my county were closed last week for two days due to an ice storm which left widespread power outages and downed trees. Winter has hit us particularly hard this year. This morning I found the perfect prayer to start off our school day here at John Carroll. It is filled with hope and gratitude. May your day be blessed.

Dear Lord,

You have made another beautiful day. You have given this day to me as a gift to enjoy. Thank You for the sun and the clouds, the wind and the rain. It is Your gift to me and I thank You. I will enjoy Your gift this day, dear Lord, especially the little things: the smell of breakfast, the song in my heart, the sight of Your flowers, the touch of Your hand, and knowing all this beauty is Your gift to me. I promise You, Lord, I will not hurt myself today with sad thoughts from my past or bitter memories of disappointment. You have given me a beautiful day and I will receive it with joy and gladness.

Amen.
