Students serve community

St. John Regional Catholic School, Frederick, recently spent a busy Monday reaching out to others. Students prepared brown bag meals for the area’s homeless shelters, and they created inspirational placemats for prisoners in a nearby correctional facility. Students also assembled care packages for troops overseas and made activity bags for the local hospital’s emergency room. Items for the projects were donated by school families. Organizations that benefited directly from the school’s efforts include Homewood at Crumland Farms, Hope Alive, the American Red Cross, Frederick Memorial Hospital, Hagerstown Correctional Facility, Gale House, Olson House, Frederick Rescue Mission and Beacon House.
