The first phase of our hope-filled mission of Seek the City to Come has been a fruitful process of engaging and listening to hundreds of parishioners and parish leaders through welcoming and reflective Open Prayerful Discussions, ongoing individual parish visits, Parish Listening Sessions, Mission & Ministry Focus Groups, and an open survey soon to be launched.
The Open Prayerful Discussions held last Fall and early Winter across five (5) regions of the City offered an opportunity to engage more than 230 plus parishioners and leaders both in-person, online and via conference call. These prayerful and reflective discussions revealed the many gifts and strengths of our Catholic Community, including our strong commitment to faith, the sacrifices people make for their parishes, diversity, inclusiveness, service, charity, social outreach, community bonds and talents in leadership.
The many voices of our parish communities gathered in fellowship to foster a deep dialogue and conversation focused on the needs of the community and neighborhoods that our parishes anchor, and how we can actively introduce more people to the light of Jesus Christ. The groups also touched on the breadth of the Church’s services from homilies to music as well as our history, traditions, and legacy.
