St. Benedict Catholic Church, the only Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Baltimore named after St. Benedict, after whom the Pope is named, will hold a day-long Vigil of Prayer on Wednesday, April 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by a Mass.
The parish, founded in 1893 and built on a monastic tradition, is staffed by Benedictine monks. Several Benedictines visiting the parish this week will attend the Papal Mass in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
St. Benedict is known as the founder of Western monasticism and was born Circa 480 in Nursia, Italy, and died in 543.
St. Benedict Church is located at 2612 Wilkens Ave.
