Sister Mary Antoine Daniel Knipfing

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Mary Antoine Daniel Knipfing was offered June 21 at the chapel at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton, Conn. Sister Mary died June 15. She was 100 and was celebrating her 80th jubilee.

A native of Westbury, N.Y., Sister Mary entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1929. She professed first vows in 1932.

She taught at Sacred Heart School from 1929 to 1930 and at Blessed Sacrament School from 1931 to 1938, both in Baltimore, and at St. Mark School in Catonsville from 1938 to 1940.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1949 and a master’s degree in administration from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. in 1966.
