Sister Georgine Marie Smith, O.S.F., served 41 years in Archdiocese of Baltimore

A funeral Mass for Sister Georgine Marie Smith of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia will be offered June 15 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Georgine Marie died June 9; she was 88.
Born in Baltimore, Sister Georgine Marie was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth and a graduate of The Catholic High School in Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1945 and professed her first vows in 1948. She earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education.
Serving for 41 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Georgine Marie taught in schools around the region, including Immaculate Conception School, Towson; Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Essex; and Shrine of the Little Flower School, Baltimore. She also ministered for 16 years in the Diocese of Wilmington, where she taught at St. Paul School in Wilmington, Del.
She spent her last 10 years of ministry teaching at St. Bernadette School in Silver Spring.
Sister Georgine Marie is survived by her sisters Nancy Edward Dentz and Mary Ellen Sologuren, her brother Paul Allen Smith, and her nieces and nephews.
