Sister Edith McLaughlin, O.S.F.

A funeral Mass was offered for Sister Edith McLaughlin, O.S.F., on Feb. 20 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Edith, formerly known as Sister Mary Thomasita, died on Feb. 14. She was 82.

A native of Pennsylvania, she moved to Baltimore, where she was a member of St. Elizabeth parish. After graduation from The Catholic High School of Baltimore, she was a clerk/typist at the Glen L. Martin Co.

She professed her first vows in 1947 and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from San Diego College for Women. She taught in Elkton, Md., and in schools out west. In 1972 she returned to Baltimore. She taught at Holy Spirit School until 1999 when she moved to Assisi House, where she served in prayer ministry until her death.
