Poll results show conflicting priorities

A recent Public Religion Research Institute poll found that 60 percent of Catholics go against the focus of U.S. bishops on abortion, contraception and gay marriage, but want a greater focus on social justice, such as: poverty and hunger, huge increases in military spending, world peace, and the violence in our own country. Abortion and gay marriage are important issues, but there are other issues that should also be addressed.

Also, one would hope the Catholic bishops would be concerned over the poll that states that only 30 percent of American Catholics attend Sunday Mass on a regular basis.
