Parishioners at St. Dominic’s parish, located at 5310 Harford Road in the Hamilton section of the City of Baltimore, were informed in a special meeting today that their pastor, Father George B. Loskarn has been placed on leave of absence and his faculties to function as a priest removed, due to a credible allegation of child sex abuse. Father Loskarn admitted to the allegation when confronted by Archdiocesan officials.
The allegation against Father Loskarn was first made on Thursday, June 6, 2002. The alleged abuse took place outside Maryland while Father Loskarn was assigned as Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Parish, Baltimore (1965-1972). St. Bernard parish closed in 1997. The victim was in his early to middle teens when the alleged abuse took place. A reporting letter was hand-delivered to the State’s Attorney’s Office for Baltimore County on Friday, June 07, 2002.
A letter to parishioners and parents of students at St. Dominic School that addresses this issue will be mailed within the next few days. Classes at the school ended for the summer on June 3. Parishioners in the two other active parishes at which Father Loskarn served will be informed in parish communications next weekend.

Father Loskarn was born in 1935 and ordained in 1965. He served as an associate pastor at Saint Bernard 1965-1972 and at Saint Michael, Overlea 1972-1975. He was pastor at St. Thomas More 1975-1985 and at St. Dominic 1985 until now.
