Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson was on partial lockdown Dec. 18 after shots were reportedly fired in the Hampton neighborhood, which is located within about a quarter mile of the campus.
NDP officials asked that all students be picked up by 4 p.m. Dec. 18 to give police full access to NDP’s property, if required, according to the school’s website. All after-school activities, including sports, have been cancelled.
According to news reports, Baltimore County police say someone has barricaded themselves inside a home.
No NDP students, faculty or staff are allowed to leave the main building, according to a school spokeswoman. NDP is on lockdown, per the request of the Baltimore County Police, because of a hostage situation.
Students are attending classes, however, classes are not being held in the Sports and Fitness Center.
