UPDATED 10 a.m. Sept. 12, 2012 – Notre Dame of Maryland University expects to break ground on its new 36,500-square-foot joint School of Nursing and School of Education building Sept. 12.
The Baltimore institution’s new academic building will provide state-of-the-art facilities for more than 2,000 nursing and education students, including clinical simulation labs.
The $12.5 million building will also feature a center to teach nursing students about bedside nursing through simulation labs for labor and delivery, pediatrics, patient rooms and observation rooms.
Priority is being given to the nursing facilities and is expected to open in fall 2013.
The building will also allow the School of Education to increase its ability to offer professional development to primary and secondary schools.
Twenty-four new full-time faculty and academic administration positions in nursing and two in education are being created because of the construction.
