Media Guidelines for the Funeral of Arthur Donovan

The following guidelines apply to media covering the funeral of Mr. Arthur Donovan, to be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles Street in Baltimore.

ACCESS: Electronic media will have access to the funeral Mass via the pool station, WBAL-TV. Contact Beverly Epstein at (410) 338-6501 or bepstein@hearst.com for information about accessing the pool feed. Print reporters and photographers will be permitted to cover the funeral in designated areas of the Cathedral.

PARKING: Parking for media outlets will be designated and assigned upon arrival. Live-shot vehicles will be assigned spaces closest to the Cathedral entrances. By Thursday, August 8 at 5 p.m., please email to scaine@archbalt.org the number of parking spaces needed.

STAGING: All members of the media covering the funeral will be asked to remain in the designated media staging area on the plaza directly opposite the main doors to the Cathedral before and after the funeral.

SEATING: During the funeral members of the media must be seated in the area designated for media.

INTERVIEWS: Interviews are only permitted in the outdoor area designated for media staging before and after the funeral. No interviews will be permitted inside or on the steps in front of the Cathedral. The Donovan family will not be granting interviews on the day of the funeral.

CEMETERY: The family requests no media coverage of the graveside service, which will be private.

HELICOPTERS: News helicopters are asked to hover at a respectful distance.
