Hundreds of pro-life supporters will take to the streets of Annapolis March 9 with a message for their lawmakers: pass laws that affirm the sanctity of life.
The annual Maryland March for Life will begin at St. Mary in Annapolis with a 4:30 p.m. youth rally featuring Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America.
Bishop Denis J. Madden will celebrate a Mass at 5:15 p.m. at the same time a nondenominational worship service will be offered on the St. Mary’s campus.
The march will begin at 6:30 p.m., working its way through downtown Annapolis to Lawyer’s Mall, where additional speakers will be featured. A meal for participants will be provided by Chick-fil-A at 8 p.m. at St. Mary.
Deacon Richard “Monti” Montalto of St. Thomas Aquinas in Hampden, a board member of the Center for Pregnancy Concerns, said the keynote address by Hawkins will be “a great witness to our young people that they are important in the pro-life effort because they bring not only a fresh enthusiasm, but future leadership to this ministry.”
Several parishes will be offering bus transportation to the event. Shuttle services will also be available for those who cannot walk.
