Loyola College in Maryland, Baltimore, hosted LUNAFEST Feb. 28, a national traveling film festival designed to bring women together, highlight female filmmakers, promote awareness about women’s issues and raise money for breast cancer research.
A showcase of nine short films by, for, and about women were shown in the Reading Room on campus with free admission, however, donations were accepted to benefit the Breast Cancer Fund.
Since its founding eight years ago, the festival, sponsored by LUNA, the whole nutrition bar for women, has raised more than $150,000 for the fund and more than $250,000 for other non-profit organizations focused on women’s issues.
Among the films were: “Breaking Boundaries: The Sondra Van Ert Story,” “My Other Mother,” and “Godir Gestir: Family Reunion.”
The event was sponsored by the Loyola College Women’s Center.
