Loyola College names two new deans

Loyola College in Maryland, Baltimore, has named Dr. Karyl Leggio as dean of its Sellinger School of Business and Management and Dr. Peter C. Murrell Jr. as founding dean of the School of Education effective July 1.

Currently an associate professor and interim chair of education at Northeastern University, Boston, Dr. Murrell will be responsible for guiding the establishment of the new School of Education to encompass Loyola’s growing undergraduate and graduate programs in education.

Dr. Leggio is currently associate dean for academic programs at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Both deans have authored books and dozens of journal articles and book chapters.

Regarding the new School of Education, Father Brian F. Linnane, S.J., college president, said, “This is a very exciting time for Loyola, as we prepare to recognize the increasing depth and breadth of our education programs with the creation of a new school dedicated to their advancement.”
