Loyola College earns top honors for RecycleMania

Loyola College in Maryland took top honors for Maryland in the 2008 Mid-Atlantic RecycleMania competition, recycling more than 118,000 pounds of recycled waste to help bring the Mid-Atlantic region’s total to 7.7 million pounds.

Seventy-four Mid-Atlantic colleges and universities competed against each other out of 400 schools nationwide to recycle the most waste in 10 weeks, determined by the amount per full-time student.

Loyola won out of Maryland’s 14 participating schools, with 27.82 pounds per student.
RecycleMania is affiliated with the Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise program, a free partnership helping U.S. organizations eliminate or reduce costly municipal solid waste.
