Local Foundation to Donate Total of Nearly a Quarter of a Million Dollars to Local Church

On Saturday, November 27 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in North Baltimore at 6:15 p.m., Mrs. Catherine Gietka, President of Mary’s Fund Foundation, will present the representatives of 10 parishes, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and Cardinal William H. Keeler’s Lenten Appeal checks in the amount of $10,000 each.

Miss. Bernadette Gietka, who established the foundation after winning the Mega Millions Lottery in June 2003, will also match those awards personally with checks of $10,000 each.

The 10 parishes receiving the award are:

Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Baltimore
St. Casimir, Baltimore
Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Baltimore
Catholic Community of St. Michael and St. Patrick, Baltimore
St. Clare, Essex
Holy Rosary, Baltimore
St. John the Evangelist, Hydes
Our Lady of Fatima, Baltimore
Our Lady Queen of Peace, Middle River
Sacred Heart of Mary, Dundalk

The Foundation will also award $30,000 to two Catholic parishes in New Jersey and one in Haiti, bringing the overall total donations to $270,000.
