Legal immigrants welcome

I strongly disagree with Father Shay Auerbach’s “Many Cultures | Una Familia” column (CR, May 17). He would have us believe that the United States is unfriendly to immigrants and wants to send them all back to their own countries. No country in the world has taken in more immigrants than the U.S. Even today in what he describes as an anti-immigrant feeling, immigrants are doing everything they can to get in. Father Auerbach has confused wanting to control illegal immigration with being anti-immigration.

No one wants to be called being against immigration when all they want to do is control a runaway problem with illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is causing problems with state budgets, state medical care, law enforcement and with children born in this country with parents not citizens.
