Knights of Columbus holds annual convention

During the 109th annual Knights of Columbus Convention Awards Ceremony on May 19 Michael Sallese, state program director, welcomed all to the awards program and invited State Chaplain Monsignor Jeremiah Kenney, KCHS, to say the opening prayer.

“The awards to be presented today are based on a set of criteria that councils must meet to be honored,” said Mr. Sallese to the large group of Knights who attended the convention.

Each second- and third-place winner received a certificate and all first-place winners received a plaque. Awards were given out in about 25 different categories including membership awards, council Web site, keep Christ in Christmas awards, mentally handicapped program awards, church activities, community activities and many more.

Mr. Sallese congratulated all of the councils on a job well done and thanked State Deputy Edgar Haynes for his support and confidence.

“We also wish to thank our wives for their love, patience and tolerance as we attended our many meetings and read our many reports,” Mr. Sallese told the audience.
