RETIREMENT PLAN SUMMARY

Archdiocese of Baltimore 403(b) Employer Contribution Plan for Benefit Eligible Lay Employees

  • For the current Plan Year, the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s discretionary contribution is 4 percent of benefit compensation with payments made on a quarterly basis. Employees become participants either July 1 or January 1, whichever date immediately follows the date of hire or effective date of benefit eligible status. Contributions are made following the end of each quarter.
  • Vesting begins after three full calendar years of participation at 50%, after four full calendar years at 75% and after five full calendar years at 100%.
  • Minimum age to participate is 21.
  • Participants must be active as of the end of the quarter to receive that quarter’s contribution unless they become disabled, retire at or after age 65, or pass away during the quarter, in which case the quarterly contribution is prorated.

  • Both benefit eligible and non-benefit eligible employees may make pre-tax employee contributions to the 403(b) Plan. Contributions may be made on a percentage or flat dollar basis, and can be started, stopped or changed at any time.
  • To make your deferral, it is recommended that you access your online account at www.rps.troweprice.com where you can make your pre-tax elections, choose your investments, designate your beneficiary, view your statements and access other retirement tools. Archdiocese of Baltimore Retirement Plan for Benefit Eligible Lay Employees
Frozen effective July 1, 2011

If you were a 12-month benefit eligible Archdiocese of Baltimore or Catholic Charities employee hired by July 1, 2010 or a 10-month benefit eligible employee hired by September 1, 2010, you may be eligible for a pension benefit through the Frozen Retirement Plan for Lay Employees. To determine your eligibility, please email the Employee Benefits Office at insure@archbalt.org and provide your name, date of birth, date of hire, date of termination (if applicable), and locations where you work(ed).

If you would like to request a pension estimate, include your marital status and spouse’s date of birth if married, as well as your anticipated benefit commencement date(s). You may request an estimate for several commencement dates (e.g., as of age 60 and 62). Certain requirements apply for early retirement eligibility.
