How about a collection for Archdiocese of Military?

A big fraction of the Catholic laity are very concerned about the unsavory associates of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, which nonetheless still gets an envelope collection in the packet from church each November.

Meanwhile, I doubt that most American Catholics even know there is an Archdiocese for U.S. Military Services. I think it would be a nice thing to have an annual collection for the Archdiocese of the Military on the weekend closest to Veteran’s Day each year. As national holidays go, it’s pretty much turned into just an early Christmas shopping day, which is not right at all.

“Vocation discernment” took place on a huge scale during World War II, which is where so many of our priests who served for the past half century came from. It would support that goal to provide a stronger presence of our priests among the American military.
