Archbishop William E. Lori joined U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski and other officials Dec. 17 at Sacred Heart of Mary in Graceland Park to dedicate a new Americorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) campus for the Atlantic Region.

According to a news release, renovations will begin in early 2013 to convert classrooms at Sacred Heart of Mary’s former parish school, which closed in 2010, into dormitories for as many as 240 young adults.

Participants in the program “address critical needs related to natural and other disasters, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship and conservation, energy conservation, and urban and rural development.”
