A funeral Mass was offered March 25 at St. Peter the Apostle in Philadelphia for Father William J. Harbison, C.Ss.R. Father Harbison died March 20. He was 72.
A Philadelphia native who was ordained a Redemptorist priest in 1966, Father Harbison served as associate pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Highlandtown from 1996 to 2002, also assisting at that parish’s mission chapels of Holy Redeemer and St. Gerard.
Father Harbison was a former missionary to Brazil who also served in Pennsylvania, Vermont, New York and Massachusetts.
