The impact of campus ministry extends far beyond a student’s years at Towson. The friendships formed, the faith nurtured, and the lessons learned through prayer, service, and discipleship often remain with students long after graduation. By investing in campus ministry, faithful donors help ensure that young adults have opportunities to encounter Christ, grow in their faith, and discover how God is calling them to serve others. Your generosity sustains the mission of the Newman Center at Towson University and helps create a lasting impact on the lives of students and the future of the Church.
In October of 2025, during a visit to Towson University’s Newman Center, we quickly understood why students affectionately call it the “White House on the Hill.” More than a campus ministry building, the welcoming white farmhouse across from campus serves as a place where students can pray, study, share meals, meet with friends, and find a sense of community amid the demands of college life. Throughout the day, young adults move in and out of its doors, gathering for Bible studies, conversations, Mass, and quiet moments of reflection. Supported by a dedicated team of campus ministers and staff, the Newman Center offers students a welcoming environment where they are encouraged in their faith, supported through the challenges of college life, and reminded that they are part of a caring community.
Campus Ministry at the Newman Center is provided by a dedicated team of ministers, FOCUS missionaries, staff, and volunteers who accompany students throughout their college years. Among them is Brian Casey, one of four FOCUS missionaries serving at Towson University. Together, Brian and his fellow FOCUS missionaries accompany students, helping them build meaningful relationships, deepen their faith, and discover how Christ is present in their lives.
For Brian, that work is deeply personal. After rediscovering his Catholic faith as a college student himself, he felt called to invest in the lives of other young adults. Whether leading Bible studies, meeting one-on-one with students, sharing meals, or simply spending time with them on campus, Brian strives to help students encounter Christ in meaningful ways. Some arrive searching for direction, others carrying questions about faith, and still others feeling disconnected from the Church. Through his ministry, Brian has witnessed remarkable transformations as students embrace their faith, become leaders within the Towson community, and begin sharing their faith with others.
Guiding this vital evangelizing ministry as chaplain is Father Mike Misulia, who sees college as a formative time when young adults are making important decisions about their faith, their future, and their place in the world. Through prayer, the sacraments, and pastoral guidance, he helps students grow in their relationship with Christ while discerning the path God is presenting them.
