Are you ready for your death?
The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland, has once again created an immersive Catholic Halloween experience to answer this question. Instead of scary encounters with ghosts and goblins, the Back from the Dead program leads visitors to saints, martyrs and other significant Catholic figures who share insights into the afterlife and what the living must do to prepare.
Lessons and warnings on what it takes to get to Heaven will be shared by this year’s lineup: Bl. Stanley Rother, St. Jean Brébeuf, St. Isaac Jogues, Bartolo Longo, Bl. Chiara Badano, Thea Bowman, St. Monica, St. Cecilia, St. Therese of Lisieux, along with Mother Seton and Rebecca Seton.
More than 50 actors and support staff are part of the efforts to create this faith drama that attracts thousands of visitors to the historical grounds. Not only does this experience deepen a person’s beliefs, but it allows them to reflect by participating in group discussions or partaking in the sacrament of reconciliation.
The indoor performance takes place on Nov. 2. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
