Ellicott City Catholic School’s “NFL Back to Football” Program to be Featured on NBC Nightly News

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Ellicott City will be featured on NBC Night News this evening for its recent participation in a National Football League (NFL) program that offers more than 16,000 elementary schools the chance to win one of 35 $10,000 grants and a visit from an NFL player. Schools must show the most NFL team spirit to qualify for the grant.

Students, teachers and staff at OLPH participated in NFL-related educational (e.g. math problems using football statistics) and physical fitness activities. The school also held a “pep rally”, canned food drive and a Ray Lewis dance contest. A local production company also created a video of the day, excerpts of which will be shown on Nightly News. The video can be found on the school’s website, www.olphschool.org.

The school was also featured in a Wall Street Journal article highlighting the program and the NFL’s recent surge in popularity among youth.
