Don’t tread on Catholics like me

Maryland Catholics need to wake up and take action. In Archbishop O’Brien’s column (CR, May 7) he talks about the silencing of Catholics in 1633 and again in 2009.

Maryland Catholics need to recognize that being Catholic and supporting liberal politicians is about as disconnected as one could possibly be. We need conservative representation, political leaders who will stand up for the rights of the unborn. We need leaders who encourage businesses to grow and provide jobs and benefits to their employees, so that we can give to the charities of our choice and help those that we feel need our help. We need to be free from oppressive taxes. We need to recognize that marriage is between a man and a woman.

To answer Archbishop O’Brien’s question: Intimidated? No. “Don’t tread on me.”
