Requirements for Volunteers

All volunteers in the Archdiocese of Baltimore must complete the following requirements on our compliance management system, Shield the Vulnerable, before volunteering:

  • Archdiocesan Application for Volunteer Service (Shield)
  • A Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children & Youth (Shield)
  • Code of Conduct for Church Personnel (Shield)

All volunteers who have substantial contact with children at a parish or school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore must complete the following requirements on our compliance management system, Shield The Vulnerable, before volunteering:

Volunteers (Adult)

  • Archdiocesan Application for Volunteer Service (Shield)
  • Three (3) references provided, checked, and documented (hard copy – Archdiocese volunteer reference form)
  • References for service and/or employment with any previous archdiocesan parish, school, or institution checked and documented (hard copy – Archdiocese volunteer reference form)
  • Criminal History Screening (Shield)
  • A Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children & Youth (Shield)
  • Code of Conduct for Church Personnel (Shield)
  • Training regarding child abuse and the protection of children:  Protect Children: STAND (Shield)

Minor Volunteers (14 – 17 years of age)
