Calvert Hall alumnus receives Bronze Star Medal

United States Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Collin J. Goldsmith, a 2005 graduate of Calvert Hall College in Towson, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal Aug. 3. 
Leading a patrol in South Gavmishi in Germany, Lance Cpl. Goldsmith alerted his team of a grenade and tackled a Marine exposed to the blast. 
When he shielded the Marine, saving his life, Lance Cpl. Goldsmith suffered a severe concussion and was unconscious.   
According to the citation, “By his extraordinary guidance, zealous initiative and total dedication to duty, Lance Cpl. Goldsmith reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.”
