The Archdiocese of Baltimore will celebrate World Marriage Day at a special Mass on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen at 3 p.m. Cardinal William H. Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore, will be the principal celebrant of the Mass to honor all married couples and offer them an opportunity to renew their wedding vows. A reception will be held immediately following the Mass in the parish hall.
Recognition will be given to couples married 25, 50 and more than 50 years and also to couples chosen to represent their parishes as the longest married couple. Special honor will be given to the longest married couple nominated from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Mr. & Mrs. William Hanneman, of Church of the Annunciation Parish in Rosedale.
The ceremony is a salute to the beauty of a couple’s fidelity, sacrifice, and joy in their sacramental commitment to one another. World Marriage Day seeks to elevate public awareness of marriage, its message of love, strength and hope to families, the Church and the world they touch.
