Archdiocese of Baltimore sends out a stellar class of 2015

Twenty Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore graduated a total of 2,310 seniors this spring. Details from each of the schools follow.

Archbishop Curley High School
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 27 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and commencement exercises were May 29 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland for 121 graduates. The commencement speaker was James Sellinger, chancellor of education for the archdiocese. Patrick M. Flynn was the valedictorian and Matthew J. Boulden the salutatorian.

Archbishop Spalding High School
Severn

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 21 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 283 graduates. The commencement speaker was Lewis Van Wambeke, principal of Archbishop Spalding.

Bishop Walsh School
Cumberland

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 22 at St. Patrick in Cumberland, part of Our Lady of the Mountains, for 30 graduates. Kaitlin Miller and Jean Smith, members of the Class of 2015, delivered the welcome address and farewell address, respectively. Monsignor James W. Hannon, director of the archdiocesan Division of Clergy Personnel, delivered the homily.

Calvert Hall College High School
Towson

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 30 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 286 graduates. Michael Calva was the valedictorian and Greg Bullen the salutatorian.

The Catholic High School of Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 26 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 80 graduates. Jessica Schultz was the valedictorian and Sarah Nakasone the salutatorian.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was to be held June 11 at Holy Rosary in Fells Point and commencement exercises are scheduled for June 13 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 69 graduates. The commencement speaker will be Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, a neurosurgeon and researcher at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Aaron Vanya is the valedictorian and Erica Nelson the salutatorian.

St. Frances Academy
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated June 5 at Mount Providence, the Oblate Sisters of Providence Motherhouse in Arbutus, and commencement exercises were June 7 at St. Matthew in Northwood for 35 graduates. The commencement speaker was Lt. Gov. Boyd K. Rutherford. Niyonah Washington was the valedictorian and Kendrick Lowery the salutatorian.

Institute of Notre Dame
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 27 at St. Joseph in Fullerton and commencement exercises were May 31 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 89 graduates. Rebecca Xiaobing DiPietro was the valedictorian and Stephanie Cristine Colon the salutatorian.

The John Carroll School
Bel Air

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 30 at the Bel Air school for 186 graduates. The commencement speaker was Billy Boniface of the Class of 1982, recipient of the 2015 Reverend Charles K. Riepe Alumni Award and Harford County Council president. Kathryn Deaver was the valedictorian and Rawlison Zhang the salutatorian.

St. John’s Catholic Prep
Buckeystown

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 20 at St. John the Evangelist in Frederick and commencement exercises were May 21 at the Buckeystown school for 67 graduates. The commencement speaker was Donald Rice of the Class of 1957, former CEO of RAND Corporation and former Secretary of the Air Force. Shannon Bernier was the valedictorian and Makenzie Donaldson the salutatorian.

Loyola Blakefield
Towson

A baccalaureate Mass was held June 6 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen and commencement exercises were June 7 at the Towson school for 178 graduates. Griffin Gilmore and Zachary Phillips, members of the Class of 2015, gave the welcome address and student address, respectively.

St. Maria Goretti High School
Hagerstown

A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 23 at St. Ann in Hagerstown for 42 graduates. Mary Katherine Levangie was the valedictorian, and Katerina D’Addato and Richard Wade Gorman were co-salutatorians.

Maryvale Preparatory School
Lutherville

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated June 4 and commencement exercises were June 5, both at the Lutherville school, for 61 graduates. The commencement speaker was Sherry Pudloski of the Class of 1985, a communications executive for Pfizer.

St. Mary’s High School
Annapolis

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 21 at St. Mary in Annapolis and commencement exercises were held immediately after at Carroll Gardens for 104 graduates. The commencement speaker was H. Richard Duden III, a Maryland District Court judge. Patrick Pryal was the valedictorian and Cecily Zecca-Naples the salutatorian.

Mercy High School
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 31 at the Baltimore school and commencement exercises were June 3 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 74 graduates. The commencement speaker was Dana Petersen Moore, an attorney and commissioner on the Baltimore City Liquor Board.

Mount De Sales Academy
Catonsville

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 21 and commencement exercises were May 23, both at the Catonsville school, for 110 graduates. Alaina Keller was the valedictorian and Clara Jeske the salutatorian.

Mount St. Joseph High School
Irvington

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 29 at St. Louis in Clarksville and commencement exercises were May 31 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 234 graduates. The commencement speaker was Conor Karl Habiger, a member of the Class of 2015.

Notre Dame Preparatory School
Towson

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 26 and commencement exercises were May 27, both at the Towson school, for 149 graduates. The commencement speaker was Marylou Yam, president of Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore. Mary Beth Loscocco was the general excellence awardee.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School
Essex

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 27 and commencement exercises were May 29, both at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middle River, for 55 graduates. Nicholas Schiavone and Nicholas Schleicher were co-valedictorians.

The Seton Keough High School
Baltimore

A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 26 at St. Joseph’s Passionist Monastery in Irvington and commencement exercises were May 28 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 57 graduates. The commencement speaker was Dr. Evangeline Franklin, a member of the Archbishop Keough High School Class of 1972 who attended Princeton and Yale and is now a medical doctor. Noelle Rowe was the valedictorian and Sana Rana the salutatorian.
