Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, will celebrate a Mass for peace in Baltimore on Sunday, May 3rd at 10:45 a.m. at the historic St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, located at 1546 N. Fremont Ave., and has asked all Catholic parishes to designate a Mass this Sunday for peace in our city.
In response to offers of assistance from parishes and Catholics throughout the Archdiocese, the Archbishop is asking parishioners to donate food, clothing, and money to support outreach ministries of Catholic parishes in the city that are providing aid to area residents in need. Additionally, the Archbishop is inviting Catholics to consider volunteering at or preparing meals for Catholic Charities-run programs such as Our Daily Bread, My Sister’s Place, and the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center.
Catholics attending Mass this weekend will pray a special Prayer for Peace and Justice (in English and Spanish) created by the Archdiocese in light of the current crisis in Baltimore, and parishes have added special prayer services and other events to encourage people to pray for all those impacted by the events of the last few weeks, including the family of Freddy Gray, those in law enforcement, and civic leaders.
