Sister Catherine Marie McGranary, D.C., served for 69 years

A funeral Mass was offered June 21 for Sister Catherine Marie McGranary, of the Daughters of Charity, at their DePaul House Chapel in Albany, N.Y. Sister Catherine Marie died June 18, at St. Louise House in Albany. She was 96, and had served as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul for 69 years.

Born in Wilmington, Del., she earned a bachelor’s degree from the former St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, and also studied pastoral care at Boston College. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, she served at St. Martin’s School in Baltimore, 1950-54, Seton High School in Baltimore, 1957-60; and St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Emmitsburg, 1964-65.

Sister Catherine Marie also served in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. At three of her positions, she was the local community superior.

Burial was at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, N.Y.
