A funeral Mass for Sister Mary Clarice Proctor of the Oblate Sisters of Providence will be offered May 12 at Our Lady of Mount Providence Chapel in Baltimore. Sister Mary Clarice died May 8; she was 80.
Born in 1935, Sister Mary Clarice entered the Oblate Sisters of Providence in 1954 and made her final vows in 1962.
She attended the former Mount Providence Junior College and what is now Towson University, and ministered primarily in teaching.
In addition to the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and the Archdiocese of Miami, Sister Mary Clarice served in the Archdiocese of Baltimore at city Catholic schools, including the former St. Francis Xavier School, the former St. Katharine School, the former St. Peter Claver School, what is now the Mount Providence Reading and Math Center, and Cardinal Shehan School.
Sister Mary Clarice also served in Black Catholic ministry in the Diocese of Rockford, Ill., and as assistant superior general of the Oblate Sisters of Providence.
