Franciscan sister ministered in Baltimore, Bradshaw

A funeral Mass for Sister Evelyn Marie Hartnett of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia was to be held April 12 at 11 a.m. at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Evelyn died April 6. She was 89.
A Sister of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 65 years, Sister Evelyn ministered in social service work and education, including six years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, at the former St. Vincent School in Baltimore and St. Stephen School in Bradshaw. 
Sister Evelyn had a bachelor’s degree in English from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg. 
In addition to the Baltimore Archdiocese, she ministered for four decades in the Diocese of Wilmington and for five years in the Archdiocese of Washington. She also served in the Diocese of Charleston. 
Sister Evelyn began her 12 years of service in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia by volunteering at Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence – a ministry she continued for five years. In 2009 she became a resident of Assisi House and served in prayer ministry there until her death.
