As Maryland braces for a pending blizzard, Archbishop William E. Lori reminded Catholics in the Archdiocese of Baltimore that church law excuses them from fulfilling the Sunday obligation to attend Mass due to a grave cause, such as unsafe travel due to severe weather conditions.
In a Jan. 22 news release from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, those who cannot safely attend Mass were encouraged to listen to the locally produced radio Mass, which is broadcast live from St. Ignatius in Baltimore on WCBM-680 AM at 9:30 a.m. Sunday and re-aired the same day at 6:30 p.m. (also streamed online here) or to watch the Mass on TV.
Church of the Nativity in Timonium will be streaming its weekend Masses (5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday) here. The Eternal Word Television Network also broadcasts the Mass at various times each day. Check here for listings. Those intending to attend Mass are encouraged to check with their parish first for information regarding possible changes to the weekend Mass schedule.
