John Romanowsky, executive director of evangelization for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, has announced the hiring of three new coordinators to the Department of Evangelization team.
Lisalee Egbert is joining the Office for Special Needs as coordinator for deaf ministry.
“A member of the deaf community herself, she knows first-hand the pastoral gifts as well as challenges of the Catholic deaf and hard-of-hearing community,” Romanowsky said in an email.
Egbert is a former associate professor in deaf studies and the faculty advisor for the Newman Catholic Center at California State University in Sacramento. She is the vice president of the board for the American Society for Deaf Children, which she represents at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Alliance.
Egbert was recently appointed to serve on the Maryland Advisory Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Her writings on deaf issues have been published nationally and internationally.
Abby Kibler will be joining the Division of Catechetical and Pastoral Formation as coordinator of discipleship formation. A former theology teacher at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Kibler has a master’s degree in the subject from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn. She has developed courses and taught in the Department of Evangelization’s Equip for Ministry program.
Kibler will officially take her position Sept. 8.
Joining her in the Division of Catechetical and Pastoral Formation is Carlos Castaneda, who will become coordinator of Hispanic pastoral formation Sept. 14. Castaneda most recently served as director of the Hispanic ministry program for the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C., where he was responsible for identifying, developing and implementing programs and processes for the formation of lay ministers.
With a master’s degree from Boston College, Castaneda has also worked as a video editor and producer for various companies. His first vocation is as a husband and father.
“Dr. Egbert, Abby and Carlos each bring a unique set of gifts and talents and a passion for evangelization that will be an invaluable contribution to our team as we set out to support our parishes in the mission of making disciples today,” Romanowsky said.
