Day of Hope: A book to remember Baby Georgie

This time last year we were looking forward to meeting our new nephew, our sons’ new cousin, Georgie. But last fall, about two months before we thought he would be born, he passed away in utero.

Georgie is very much loved and remembered, and we talk about him often in our family and in our home. We talk a lot about heaven, and our sons know Georgie is there.

One day at Mass, I asked Daniel, who’s 4, what he would like to tell God.

Stubborn and opinionated, as 4-year-olds tend to be, he said, “I will only pray for Georgie, Mama!”

To help make the abstract a little more concrete and to give us one more way to talk about Georgie, I wrote a brief poem about him and we created a Shutterfly book.

When I saw that August 19 is a Day of Hope celebrating the lives of babies, I thought I’d post the book in case it might be helpful to someone else.
