Catholic high school graduates ready to make their mark on the world

The class of 2014 represents 2,328 graduating seniors from 20 Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
 
Archbishop Curley High School, Baltimore
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 28 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore and commencement exercises were May 30 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland for 128 graduates. The commencement speaker was Deacon Martin E. Wolf, Archbishop Curley Class of 1976, partner at Gordon and Wolf Charted in Towson. Daniel J. Baranowski and Christian J. Flynn were the co-valedictorians. Graduates were offered $10.9 million in scholarships.
 
Archbishop Spalding High School, Severn
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 21 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 287 graduates. The graduation student speaker was Bethany Marie Baldwin, a member of the Class of 2014. Daniel Junior Kurniawan, Jacqueline Marie Doerr and George Xian Peng ranked first, second and third, respectively, in their class. Graduates were offered more than $32 million in scholarships.  
 
Bishop Walsh School, Cumberland
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 23 at St. Mary in Cumberland, part of Our Lady of the Mountains, for 46 graduates. Cecilia Rossi and Margaret Czapski, members of the Class of 2014, delivered the welcome address and farewell address, respectively. Capuchin Franciscan Father Gregory Chervenak, pastor of Our Lady of the Mountains, delivered the homily. Graduates were offered more than $2.5 million in scholarships.
 The Catholic High School of Baltimore  
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 27 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 57 graduates. Rebecca Miller and Monica Perumattam were the co-valedictorians and Abigail Dohmeier was the salutatorian. Graduates were offered nearly $4 million in scholarships.

Calvert Hall College High School, Towson
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 31 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 271 graduates. Ross Alexander Jacob was the valedictorian and Cameran Isiah Burt the salutatorian. Graduates were offered $14.2 million in scholarships.  
 
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Fells Point
 
A baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for June 12 at Holy Rosary in Fells Point and commencement exercises are scheduled for June 14 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 53 graduates. The commencement speaker was Dr. Carla D. Hayden, chief executive officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore. Graduates were offered nearly $2.9 million in scholarships.
 
 
St. Frances Academy, Baltimore
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 30 at Mount Providence, the Oblate Sisters of Providence Motherhouse in Arbutus, and commencement exercises were June 1 at St. Matthew in Northwood for 35 graduates. The commencement speaker was Calvin G. Butler Jr., CEO of Baltimore Gas and Electric. Selvin Amador was the valedictorian and Ehijele Ubuane the salutatorian. Graduates were offered approximately $500,000 in scholarships.

Institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 29 at St. Matthew in Northwood and commencement exercises were June 1 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 86 graduates. Samantha M. Hires and Sarah M. Stefanski were the co-valedictorians and Rebecca N. Forloine was the salutatorian. Eighty-six graduates were offered $9.86 million in scholarships.

The John Carroll School, Bel Air
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 31 at the Bel Air school for 161 graduates. The commencement speaker was Peter Long, John Carroll Class of 1985, president and CEO of Blue Shield of California Foundation. Margaret McGuirk was the valedictorian and Lindsay Kraus and Andrew Beard were the co-salutatorians. Graduates were offered $9 million in scholarships.
 
St. John’s Catholic Prep, Buckeystown
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 22 at St. John the Evangelist in Frederick and commencement exercises were May 23 at the Buckeystown school for 65 graduates. The commencement speaker was Gordon Oliver, the school’s president. Kelsey Bealmear and Kathryn Tighe were the co-valedictorians and Lianne Pedersen was the salutatorian. Graduates were offered more than $4.3 million in scholarships.

Loyola Blakefield, Towson
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 31 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen and commencement exercises were June 1 at Loyola for 181 graduates. Matthew J. Thompson and Francis Daniel O’Neill, members of the Class of 2014, gave the welcome address and student address, respectively. Graduates were offered $9.6 million in scholarships.
 
St. Maria Goretti High School, Hagerstown
 
A baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 24 at St. Ann in Hagerstown for 54 graduates. Patrick Jones was the valedictorian and Brendan Bush was the salutatorian. Graduates were offered $5.6 million in scholarships.
 
Maryvale Preparatory School, Lutherville
 
A baccalaureate Mass was to be held June 5 and commencement exercises are scheduled for June 6, both at the Lutherville school, for 65 graduates. The commencement speaker was Patricia Mitchell, Maryvale Class of 1965, chairwoman of the Board of Trustees at Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore and former vice president of global sales operations for IBM. Graduates were offered $4.71 million in scholarships.
 
St. Mary’s High School, Annapolis
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated by Archbishop William E. Lori May 22 at St. Mary in Annapolis and commencement exercises were held immediately after at Carroll Gardens for 131 graduates. The commencement speaker was Captain William D. Byrne Jr., Commandant of Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, a 1987 graduate of the Naval Academy. Clara Cecil was the valedictorian and Zachary Davis the salutatorian. Graduates were offered $13.3 million in scholarships.
 
Mercy High School, Baltimore
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated June 1 at the Baltimore school and commencement exercises were June 4 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 74 graduates. The commencement speaker was the Honorable Carol E. Smith, Mercy Class of 1964 and a retired associate judge for the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Graduates were offered $6.4 million in scholarships.
 
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Essex
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 28 and commencement exercises were May 30, both at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Essex, for 40 graduates. Kimberly Single was the valedictorian and Stefan Yossif the salutatorian. Graduates were offered more than $1.8 million in scholarships.
 
Mount de Sales Academy, Catonsville
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 22 and commencement exercises were May 24, both at the Catonsville school, for 124 graduates. Alyson Noel Schmid was the valedictorian and Madison Adele Maguire was the salutatorian. Graduates were offered nearly $15.6 million in scholarships.
Mount St. Joseph High School, Irvington
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 30 at St. Louis in Clarksville and commencement exercises were June 1 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 246 graduates. The commencement speaker was Michael Singleton, a member of the Class of 2014. Graduates were offered more than $25.1 million in scholarships.
 
Notre Dame Preparatory School, Towson
 
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 27 and commencement exercises were May 28, both at the Towson school, for 145 graduates. The commencement speaker was School Sister of Notre Dame Clare Fitzgerald, an international speaker. Minyoung “Minnie” Jang was the general excellence awardee. Graduates were offered more than $23 million in scholarships.
The Seton Keough High School, Baltimore
A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 27 at St. Joseph’s Passionist Monastery in Irvington and commencement exercises were May 29 at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen for 79 graduates. The commencement speaker was Becca Conti-Vock, Seton Keough Class of 2004, a Navy Surface Warfare Officer. Hailee Clampitt and Ashley Lemanski were the co-valedictorians. Graduates were offered nearly $5 million in scholarships.
