A monthly group for people who are separated, divorced and single begins next month at St. Pius X in Rodgers Forge.
The Joannes Legacy Series aims to provide a place for people experiencing loss because of separation, divorce or the death of a spouse to dialogue about issues related to the topic, said Myra Fecteau, a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Columbia who coordinates the series.
“People going through loss need to know that there is a safe place to meet to discuss what bothers them,” said Fecteau, who noted the series will allow participants “to learn more about themselves and to go back to their communities and their churches to live their lives fully. We want people to heal pastorally, spiritually, mindfully.”
The group is named for Religious Sister of Mercy Mary Joannes Clifford, who served at Mercy High School in Baltimore from 1960 to 2013 and in 1987 founded Friends of Mercy, which offered support for persons separated, divorced and widowed.
