Sister Jeanne Marie Armstrong, S.S.N.D.

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Jeanne Marie Armstrong was offered Aug. 29 at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore. Sister Jeanne died Aug. 18. She was 86.
A native of Baltimore, Sister Jeanne attended the former All Saints School and the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore. She earned a nursing degree at the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
She professed first vows in 1950. As a nurse, Sister Jeanne ministered at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and what is now Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore. In 1952, Sister Jeanne was assigned to Villa Maria in Notch Cliff where she ministered to retired sisters.
From 1956 to 1972 she ministered at the infirmary at the School Sisters of Notre Dame’s motherhouse in Baltimore. From 1973 to 1977 she taught biology at St. Pius X School in Rodgers Forge and worked as a nurse at the Dulaney-Towson Nursing and Convalescent Home. From 1977 to 1983 Sister Jeanne directed the physical therapy department at Villa Assumpta.She was a health care minister at St. Augustine in Elkridge from 1985 to 1989 and chaplain of Stella Maris hospice from 1998 to 2003.
In 2003 Sister Jeanne moved to Maria Health Care Center at Villa Assumpta where she requested assigned duties.
