In the May 30 edition I noted a priest has been relocated from pastoral ministry at St. Joesph, Cockeysville, to serve as Cardinal Edwin F. O’Brien’s secretary.
I have no doubt Cardinal O’Brien is entitled to and requires a secretary, but in this day, when pastors serve multiple parishes, can’t some promising son of a knight or lady of the Equestrian Order of the Most Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem fill the void? We’re losing one more person who can perform the holy sacrifice of the Mass, hear confessions, preside at weddings, visit the sick and run a parish (not to mention the other myriad priestly demands.)
