A funeral Mass for Redemptorist Father John J. Salamon was offered Jan. 26 in the chapel at Stella Maris in Timonium. Father Salamon was 93 and had been a priest for 67 years.
A native of New York City, Father Salamon was ordained in 1945. He completed his novitiate year in Ilchester in Howard County.
He served at St. Wenceslaus in Baltimore from 1946 to 1950 and at the now-closed St. James the Less Church in Baltimore from 1957 to 1961.
His priestly ministry also took him to New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Father Salamon had resided at St. John Neumann Residence at Stella Maris since 2009.
