Students at Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore have been raising funds and awareness about breast cancer during the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At The John Carroll School in Bel Air, students are donning “Patriots in Pink” wristbands. Sold for $2 each, the wristband proceeds benefit the Hoffberger Breast Center at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore and the The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Comprehensive Breast Care Center at GBMC. According to organizer and John Carroll sophomore Amanda Brannan, more than 250 bracelets have been sold so far.
In Severn, the Archbishop Spalding High School women’s field hockey team hosted their fifth annual Play 4 the Cure event, raising $1,765 for the American Cancer Society. Both varsity and junior varsity Cavaliers played the St. Mary’s Saints Oct. 11. Items were available for raffle and donations were accepted at the door.
