Dr. James F. Conneely, president of Notre Dame of Maryland University, welcomed students back to campus during the Baltimore college’s move-in and orientation weekend Aug. 25-26.
Dr. Conneely, the 12th president of Notre Dame of Maryland University, succeeds Dr. Mary Pat Seurkamp, who had led the university since 1997.
At the university’s welcoming ceremony, Dr. Conneely and Alison Smith signed the registry for the Class of 2016 and received their “NDMU” pins. The tradition signifies students’ transition to the university’s community of faith, service and learning.
Before coming to Notre Dame of Maryland University, Dr. Conneely was associate provost and vice president of student affairs at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. He is the first male and the second layperson to serve as president of Notre Dame.
